Maverick Star Glen Powell Talks About X-Men Rumors From MCU About Cyclops Casting

As the Marvel Cinematic Universe moves into Phase 4 and beyond, one of the biggest questions surrounding the franchise has been the on-screen future of the X-Men. The creative group of mutants can now properly carry over to Marvel Studios productions, following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox, leaving many wondering when and how they could debut. Meanwhile, a number of prominent actors have been speculated to be related to the X-Men characters, including Top Gun: Maverick Star Glen Powell, who became a popular choice among fans to play Scott Summers/Cyclops. In a recent interview with diversePowell addressed those delusions, revealing that he “has no idea what people are talking about.”

Before Comic-Con, everyone was like, ‘Dude, are you Cyclops? “No, I’m not. No one has contacted me. I don’t even have a single Marvel contact information, so I have no idea what people we’re talking about.”

Then the interviewer suggested that if it wasn’t Paul Cyclops, then he and his people Top Gun: Maverick Co-star Miles Teller could have his own level of play, which Powell noted, “I think that’s more likely.”

Powell later took to Twitter to speak in the interview, explaining that he was “just confused” about the fancy.

Aside from a few cameos and Easter eggs, an alternate version of Charles Xavier/Professor X (Patrick Stewart) appears in Doctor Strange in a multiverse of madnessHowever, the X-Men didn’t fully blossom in the MCU.

“I try not to think of it as being the one I’m introducing them to,” Michael Waldron, writer of Multiverse from Madness, told ComicBook.com earlier this year. “We all do it together. Everyone in this sequence, it’s a collaboration with [director] Toxic [Raimi]naturally, [and] with actors. I’m just trying to give them a nice foundation, to go in and bring this stuff to life. And geez, they’ve all taken it out of the garden.”

As Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige joked to ComicBook.com in an interview earlier this year, we might not have to wait long for the X-Men.

“Do you want to wait until stage 10 for the X-Men?” Feige joked. “Well, this is longer than I want to wait. But I guess.”
